The Save-Our-Beaches organization, and all it’s members and supporters, take great pride in being named one of the area’s 2010 Movers and Shakers, as chosen by the York County Coast Star on January 6, 2011. Please see the story here: http://www.seacoastonline.com/articles/20110106-NEWS-101060360.
We view this special designation as reflecting the greater community’s desire to see a wonderful natural treasure available, as it has been for decades, to all of us. We see this as an awareness that the greater community appreciates the efforts of the Town of Kennebunkport, the Save-Our-Beaches organization, the State of Maine, and the Surfriders Organization, along with the overwhelming majority vote to support the Town Budget.
We can all take some pride, but the fight is far from done. It is almost criminal that a few homeowners could cost the community so much money, and for what? If the home owners win the suit, they will have to ask permission to walk the beach that is free to their families today. If the home owners win the suit, they can sit freely, in front of their house, as opposed to enjoying the warm sand a bit up or down the beach. These short-sighted, selfish few actually lose more than they gain, but that is not the worst.
The worst is the effort to rewrite the history of this community. For decades our families and friends, relatives and visitors, have mutually enjoyed all the wonderful things a Maine beach community can offer. Now they want to deny this enjoyment to visitors, from Kennebunkport, Arundel, Kennebunk, Biddeford and other Maine communities, and the large number of visitors every year from cities and towns all over the world.
Help us continue this fight! Keep an eye on this site, and come to the meetings we hold often to share news of the suit, the costs, the issues. We thank you all for your year of wonderful support, and we thank the York County Coast Star for it’s recognition of a large number of volunteers that have given time, money and talents to help shine a light on those that would destroy our community.

Congratulations to the Movers and Shakers who continue to keep this great organization going. The GRB community owes the founders and board members of Save Our Beaches a very large basket of gratitude for getting us started and for keeping us going.
we have owned a cottage since late 1950,s and i have been coming there since 1938. we had always hoped our grown children could enjoy the beach and the friends they have made over many years. Is there any recent update on what is happening at the beach I have been to some of the meetings in the summer.
