Another wonderful summer here in Southern Maine, and while much of the Eastern Seaboard has sweltered, Goose Rocks Beach has often been cooled by ocean breezes at night, after warm, sun filled days on the beach.
Yes, on the beach. From stem to stern. From river to river. From rocks to water’s edge. As it has been for 100 years, as beaches are enjoyed all over the world. Save-Our-Beaches thanks you all for your past support, hopes you are having a fun and safe summer, and would like you to read a letter we just got from three young people that have exactly the right spin on all this!
It all started out with a simple six hour drive down to Goose Rocks Beach when we were only a month old and crawling in the sand. Before we were even born, our grandparents used tocome down every year with their kids (our parents)to go play in the fine sand and freezing cold water of Goose Rocks Beach. A few years later, they were bringing down their grandaughters to experience the fun things Goose Rocks Beach holds. Such as , digging in the sand for clams, sand castle building, sandollar finding, boogie boarding, body surfing, playing fun games, finding different creatures of the sea, visiting the different islands and just enjoying the beautiful views of Goose Rocks Beach. Now that were older we have the freedom to go walk on the beach and put our feet in the water. We think that Goose Rocks Beach holds the same amount of memories for everybody who has visited this wonderful beach. We’d all be heartbroken to see Goose Rocks Beach go and all memories with it. If half of Goose Rocks Beach is gone , than whats the point of coming?
